Syngonium Podophyllum, Goosefoot houseplants / Nephthytis
Syngonium podophyllum or the Goosefoot Plant / Nephthytis is a simple yet elegant and versatile houseplant to have in your home. Great for those just starting out and still desired by the more experienced indoor plant owners.
Syngonium plant is native to tropical Central and South America and is also known as Nephthytis. Other common names for Syngonium plants are Arrowhead plants, Elephant Ear plants, Butterfly plants and Goosefoot plants. Please see pictures below for identification as all those names can be confusing.
Syngonium is an easy plant to care for and grow as long as it is placed in a bright light situation. It will tolerate lower light levels with reduced watering frequency. For the best results, bright light is needed.
If kept in a moist, humid environment Syngonium will produce aerial roots and will attach to surfaces much like a Pothos or Philodendron Cordatum or will root in the soil resulting in a nice ground cover. Use it in a terrarium, as a table plant, hanging plant or a climbing plant.
